Well, I'm officially at college. I had a gig in PDX on Friday, and the Monterey Jazz trip... I now officially live here untill Thanksgiving. Leaving PDX was tough for a lot of reasons, but there was one in particular... On Sunday before I caught my train I bought "...Nothing Like The Sun," I had previously lost it. I'm listening to it non stop. I'm starting to establish my friend group, slowly but surely.
I have an ear training test tomorrow. 2nds, 3rds, 4ths, 5ths, and octaves. We have to sing AND write the correct notes. Now, for a musician experianced in theory there would be no problem. But I am a drummer, I'm only just starting to delve into theory, this will be tough. I have an okay grasp on the whole thing, but it'll be slow going for me... Everyone will finish the test before me. But I'm okay with that, I'm learning and I'm going at my own pace. I also have a music fundamentals test on wednesday. I'm doing alright in that class. I was having a lot of trouble with key signatures, but I just got help from a girl who has been studying theory for 7 years. She showed me an awesome technique to help with key signatures, and now I have an okay grasp on all that too!
My writing class is bizzare. It's like a history class, but we have to work on writing techniques too. I have two papers due tomorrow, but they arn't bad, I'll get them done with good accuracy.
I'm distracted, determined, lonley (but loved), sad, excited, relieved, anxious, and everything else in between. This is going to be a great year for me. (And for you too, trust me). Now, time to eat!
